I knew Gordon(Mr.)Ramsey as young boy in Manila. It is with the fondest of memories that Gordon, and Marc are a integral part of my childhood. I remember that he always had time to play baseball with us and I thought tahe was so cool for a guy who hunched over the piano writing strange music.
He will be missed.

I played in the DRJB from 92-97. Gordon was very kind and enthusiastic. I was a player who had only moderate talent and Gordon was great at bringing out sounds and talents that were latent. I feel very lucky to have played in his band and I know he touched a lot of people with this music.

I have such fond memories of my Uncle Gordon (my mother's Beth, brother.) I remember riding in his rumble seat car, playing duets on the piano with him, and the one-woman audience concert with the DRJB. Seeing the sights in Washington, DC, my mother's 80th birthday party where he surprised us all, and the wonderful hospitality he and Nathalie extended to me on my trips back East also are amongst my fondest Gordon memories.:p

My thoughts and prayers go to Nathalie and family.

The following quote is from "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery and was on a card given to me by a friend at Dad's memorial service. It is both beautiful and appropriate, I think.
"In one of the stars I shall be living
In one of them I shall be laughing
And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing when you look at the night sky"

Thanks to all who could join us and to all that sent their messages.

While we are all very sad to have lost Gordon, we can and should also celebrate his life and how he made a significant difference in the world and among those that he touched in some way. Gordon was clearly a gifted person, in his international development profession, in his love of music and in his personal contacts. When we worked so closely together during those difficult times in Syria, I always respected how Gordon had such great understanding of the political and development complexities that we were dealing with, but he also had a managerial solution or an approach to finding such a answer. I also admired his courage in facing serious obstacles there and in seeing them through, such as the time that there was a bombing near your apartment residence. Perhaps most of all, I was impressed by his compassion for others and the human touch that he put on administering a large and varied program and being a leader in our community. Much of his talent is also reflected in his expertise musically that he enjoyed so much and that gave him so much satisfaction. Therefore, Gordon was clearly a special person in USAID as a development organization and among those of us individually that had the opportunity to work with him and to learn from him. He will be sorely missed by all.

Gordon is my first cousin and, as you know, spent several summers as a child here in Parowan, Utah staying with his Benson grandparents. We enjoyed having him as a playmate and have missed the close contact with him since he left Utah. I am very impressed by his many accomplishments. He has been a great public servant, musician, husband and father. He will be greatly missed by many, including his relatives here in Utah. As a trumper player for most of my life. and still at it, I truly appreciate his dedication and great talent in music.

I'm sure his relief from the suffering through his illness is a comfot to you, but yet one cannot help mourning the loss. Our thoughts and love are with you.
